SL12 Playoffs Round 1 Recap

May 15, 2012 in AGLA by TrueFlyingCow

Hey everybody, before we get too far into the second round of playoffs, imShad is here this week to bring us a recap of round 1′s games. Lets take a look!

Round 1 of the playoffs is officially over and for those that don’t already know, here’s a recap of what exactly went down. The first round actually had some interesting match-ups, however the series themselves didn’t seem to have too much drama with every team sweeping their respective opponents.

UpLifted vs Ervs Tenebrovsvs

With dominant victories over the team with the most unusual name in the playoffs, Uplifted took away two easy 9-0 victories over Ervs Tenebrovsvs. BossTycoon’s squad busted out their trademark “WildCat” line up with runners Doc Status and Ezy08 both playing in the second game, however this series wasn’t much more than a warm up for their second round games, and they’re going to need it.

Series MVP: BossTycoon x with +31 spread and 3 scores.

Way to Fail vs Monstars

This series had two HEAVYweightTEAMS going at it, and with both teams having championship aspirations, they both showed exactly how much they wanted it – each game lasted 35+ minutes. Statistically speaking, Way to Fail easily out tanked the Monstars. Over two games Way to Fail had a +103 spread. On the other side, the aggressive nature of their tanks led Monstars to an overall -165, without a single player going positive over the series. That tanking dominance by Way to Fail didn’t appear to have a huge impact on goals, with each game being a very tight, ending up 5-4 and 6-3 respectively with Way to Fail coming out on top.

Series MVP: Priest XYZ going +58 with 7 scores.

Qwib Qwib’s Ambition vs Mighty Ogres

This is one of the more fun match ups if you know these teams, and what I thought would be a very close series. The Mighty Ogres being the stat padder redemption team, and Qwib Qwib having a tough season last season. Both teams had a bit of a last minute pick up, The Mighty Ogres getting a new runner in Sci Arcane, and Qwib Qwib picking up the much talked about G Force (iWIN u WITNESS). The first game of this series was quite the romp, or so it would appear with Qwib Qwib winning the first game 8-1, in a 30 minute game 1, and Qwib Qwib again winning game 2, with a much closer 5-4.

Series MVP: RainForever360 with -3 and 9 scores.

T Rich and Rockman Go Back to Highschool vs Jamacian Hop Scotch Mafia

This is a series I personally expected to be pretty close, with T Rich coming out on top… I got the outcome correct, but the pretty close part, not as much. Showing the drive and determination to win this season, T Rich and Rockman flexed their muscles against a very solid team in the Hop Scotch Mafia. T Rich and Rockman won both games in pretty dominating fashion, with an 8-1 and a 7-2 victory. Something worth noting about this series, in game 2, T Rich DA KING had 0 kills and 0 deaths, but still had a score. Clutch.

Series MVP: v Determined v going +37 and 1 score.

The New Jersey Pineapples vs GentINC

With all the smack talking that went down on the forums before this game, this series is by far the sweetest, and makes me smile the most. With GentINC being “The second seed, b****”, they ran in to quite the road block in The New Jersey Pineapples, with the NJ Pineapples getting a 9-0 and a 7-2 victory to sweep the number two seed, GentINC, of course.

Series MVP: ThePistachioKid going a whopping +69, including a +56 game.

The Omega Skulls vs The Fatal Four

This is one of Batty’s picks as an interesting match up for round 1, well sadly he was wrong, and I expected him to be. No disrespect to The Omega Skulls, but The Fatal Four was just a better team, and they showed it. With two 9-0 victories, with both just under 16 minutes, Fatal Four takes this series easily.

Series MVP: Sabasorous Rex with +27 and 5 scores.

Four Guys One Ball vs This One’s For Jenkins

This is one of the less interesting series so far, and I don’t really have a lot to say about it. Four Guys One Ball expected to win this series, and they did, in pretty dominating fashion. Both games were under 15 minutes, with a 9-0 and an 8-1 respectively. 4G1B comes out on top.

Series MVP: TrueFlyingCow with +16 and 13 scores.

The New York Pineapples vs Flaming Grifballs

This series was exactly what everyone expected it to be, including the Flaming Grifballs, who deserve a special shout out because they got one more goal than they expected to… And that was the only goal they scored. Like I said, this series was what everyone expected it to be, with NYP coming out 8-1 and 9-0.

Series MVP: RDG NHL with +40 and 2 Scores.

Thanks for reading everyone, I’ll be back next week.
