Path to the Championship: Four Guys One Ball

June 5, 2012 in AGLA by TheOneHawk

Here we are, the final week of the AGLA Post Season, with the championship game looming, and anticipation mounting. Two teams are going to meet up, with expectations unmet, and internet history that no one will care about in ten years, on the line. This article highlights the road Four Guys One Ball took to get to the championship game.

Four Guys One Ball had a similar path to T Rich and Rockman, but yet also very different. 4G1B started their season off against the main foe in their division as well, however with a much different result. Four Guys One Ball smacked The Fatal Four, 9-0, albeit a watered down version of the team, in BlueCollarKid, DHG SOUP, II got3nks II, and Grifball Slayer, a roster better known as bluecollarkid, gotenks, and who are those other kids?

The second game of their season was also against relative nobodies, Four Guys One Ball dominated a new team to the AGLA, Uncaged Moa, in 9-0 fashion. The trend of shut out dominance wouldn’t continue to week two, with a match up against Green Army. While the shut outs didn’t continue, the dominance did, Four Guys one ball thoroughly flattened Green Army in a 15 minute 6-3 game.

Their second game of week two was a game against a team known as Gavin, a team constructed by Lil Black BUBBA, formerly of the Grifball Hammers, and Team Intrepid. However their resurrection couldn’t stop 4G1B, with our highlighted team coming out on top 8-1 in 16 minutes.
Week three showed continued dominance by 4G1B, with repeat 6-3 and 9-0 victories over Green Army and Uncaged Moa respectively. Week four however, was certainly not going to be a walk through, where they ran into a new and improved version of The Fatal Four.

The Fatal Four added crucial pieces to the team in Maj Tryhard, Sabasarous Rex, and Kev1897, they were certainly not going to lay down and let 4G1B take the division without a fight. The Fatal Four fought the best fight they could, taking 4G1B to 47 minute 5-4 game. Game two of this series showed Four Guys One Ball’s captain, Crusader0102 push his team to a victory with a +38 game, along with one score.

The remainder of the regular season proved to stay true to most of 4G1B’s games, they were legitimate beatdowns, with an 8-1 victory over Uncaged Moa, 7-2 win over Gavin, and a 9-0 threematch victory over Green Army. And with those victories, Four Guys One Ball officially clinched their division, and the #3 spot in the playoffs.

The first round of the playoffs pitted Four Guys One Ball against This One’s For Jenkins! A team made up of H20 Camper, A Baby Tortoise, PranaDevil, and AlmightyMoa PMS. Four Guys One Ball showed a bit of a roster change up for the series, adding little known Ullr the Marksman. Both games of this series were both snoozers, with 4G1B coming out on top in a 9-0, and 8-1 victory, in just 25 minutes combined.

The second round brought much more of a challenge for Four Guys One Ball, a match up most people had 4G1B losing. For the first time all season long, Four Guys One Ball was an underdog against their opponent, the New York Pineapples. The New York Pineapples and Four Guys One Ball were prepared and ready for show down…. Or so we thought.

Four Guys One Ball brought their A game, and stuck it to their opponent, in a 30 minute 7-2 game, with Crusader yet again coming up huge in a big game, going +33 and paving the way for his team to win game one. Game Two turned out to be a closer game, with a 5-4, 17 minute victory for Four Guys One ball. However in game 2, the tanking load was more spread out, with L1ght5aber going +20 and Crusader yet again leading his team, just barely, with +21. Four Guys One Ball was off to the semifinals.

With yet another rematch against their division rival, The Fatal Four, their semifinal series was shaping up to be a good one. In game one, Four Guys One Ball yet again dominated their opponent, in a 20 minute 8-1 victory. Game one certainly showed the depth of Four Guys One Ball, with Crusader having an off game at -1, Jedi Hunter and L1ght5aber picked up the slack, going +20 and +14 respectively. Game two was more or less the same, in a 23 minute 6-3 victory. Four Guys One ball took the series, and advanced to their very first championship game.
