Good commentary. At the end of the podcast, I heard about getting new teams started out. If needed I am will ing to offer advice and techniques for surfing against veterans.
Just a quick thought on the power players and “Spreading the talent”
We need to worry about getting more players playing grifball. We have 30 some teams this season and that is very low. Halo 4 will bring more people to grifball (especially if there is a playlist for it) and so we should use that to bring in the rookie/pro league. It may not be the best idea if the game mechanics change but at the same time if we do a 60 team league of newbies and pros, we could lose 15 teams due to 9-0 and then where will the rookie league be next season?
My team (Cereal Killers) is a team that is just playing to have fun, win or lose. That may not be the case with newer teams and the problem with newer teams quitting is indeed the 9-0 loss that just discourages them.
I’m no expert, but I’m just trying to get the point across of attracting more players.
There’s been alot of theories on what drives newer players away and for a while certain people tried to blame it on the community. It’s been apparent from mutato’s post on the new player tourney and input from newer players such as yourself that help the league figure out what the real issue is. Your input is much appreciated.
Harmful if Swallowed beat HLC 8-1

Yeah, I was under the impression that TheOnehawk had reported that…
Maybe he just decided they were going to be a FF and they didn’t need 1 win? hah
Can’t wait to be mentioned in the next one, hoping for 5 in a row!
I’m just saying the score was 5-1 or 5-2 after we beat Reckless Fire and we stopped trying. Not saying they can’t beat us in the rematch but you’re crazy if you’re guaranteeing them a playoff spot.
Also there’s a good reason I want to change the roster lock rule it’s not just for BossTycoon and I never said I would add him to my team…You guys are exaggerating once again but that’s not surprising. Maybe you should ask OneHawk who gave the most accurate description of the argument between Boss and Milk.
I could have lied for him and told Hawk that Boss never said anything about Milks personal life but instead I told him what happened. It was because of that Boss got suspended during playoffs when HE WAS ON MY TEAM. So what I’m trying to say here is I don’t side with people just because “they’re my friend”.
The reason I wanted to change the roster lock rule was because if we extend the seasons there’s a bigger chance teams will become forfeit factories. It’s not fair to those players that end up playing a game and then can’t play the rest of the season because their team quit.
Do u really expect people to believe u stopped trying active hate ? Lol
haha great to be mentioned. it’s pronounced the oh-woe-woe-’s (The Owowos) by the way, but my teammates will always give everyone who asks a wrong pronunciation. 0-4 and proud- represent
Again, that bum rush wasnt my host! I was at a different house on a different connection on a different xbox lol nothing was anywhere near the same. And as shadow said, we played a league game on my host literally no more than a few hours before and there wasnt a spec of lag just saying.
Also another thought, priest somewhat touched on this, we could do a somewhat development league type of thing. For the new players that are just getting into the league or just players that arent as experienced as they would like, we could have a league that is almost at the level of ggl where we could have that draft type of idea and run with it. We could take a bunch of the players that are on the top caliber teams such as WTF, Flipadelphia and 4G1B and such and place them as “captains” to help run these teams. By that I dont mean that they would select their players but rather lead those teams and teach those new kids strats and more or less the basics of developing skill and teamwork regardless of who you are with. Then they could work together in these games that should be played to win however not to the point where rage should be involved. Also, I dont know exactly if it would be a good idea if the captains should play in these games but rather be a spectator to coach the players live. I feel like this would be a lot better for the new players that are open to getting better while keeping it separate from them playing with their friends or team of choice. The only catch though is getting the right players to be the captains/coaches. Technically it would be time out of their day that they might rather spent doing something else however it would be for the betterment of the league and im sure we still have enough veterans around willing to help to fuel something like this. It could only be like two or three games a week so it wouldnt be that time consuming. Just an idea that if we put some thought into we could really get H4 off to a good start and make the league back to what it used to be.
When it comes to adding more games I’ve tried to think of something that would be more fun for adding more games to the season.
We only get to play our division all season long and then get our first look at other teams in the playoffs if we make it. Why dont we do something kind of like the NFL or MLB where we play out of our division?
Say we play 3 games a week for 5 weeks. How about 2 games against our division and 1 game agaisnt a team in the league, That way more teams get to see other teams.
I personally would like to do that and I’m a lot of people would love to play more grifball. This coukd give them that tiny bit of hope for a win if they see no hope in their division.
I’m sure a lot of people*
could*
sorry typing on my phone
I like this, I second this
The biggest problem I can see with this is being able to schedule a game against a team in a different division.
There are a decent number of teams that only have a roster online 1 night a week.
